PLAY Golf at Healesville

Consistently ranked well inside Australia’s top 100 courses the Healesville golf course plays a little differently to most. The 18 hole par 68 layout is just 5000 metres in length and consists of two par 5’s, six par 3’s and ten par fours. Designed by golfing architect Mike Clayton there’s a great mixture of holes to play at Healesville with the greens being a real standout. While the course is very playable and enjoyable for all standards of golfers it still can be quite a challenge for the skillful and low handicapped player.
While there are a number of superbly designed holes on this entertaining layout, GolfAway’s choice as the signature hole at Healesville golf course is the 423 metre par five 8th. Made even shorter by being downhill this par five highlight is the elaborate green complex. With just one large fairway bunker to avoid the focus is on the approach shot to the well protected, large, peanut shaped putting surface. A slender creek cuts diagonally across the fairway just in front of the right hand side of the green while a wide shallow bunker guards against shots played to the left. Pin placement will definitely dictate which section of the green to aim for.
