Located on the southern edge of Tamworth, the Longyard golf course is a real pleasure to play. With it’s open air country feel, excellent fairways & greens, and majestic scenery, this impressive championship course is a must on every golfers bucket list.
Expertly designed by Greg Norman & Bob Harrison, the layout meanders its way around lush, slightly undulating terrain. When playing here there seems to be plenty of room to navigate each hole but subtle nuances such as mounds, bunkers, native areas and some water adds plenty of interest. The greens are large and have many locations for pin placements.
GolfAway selects the 190 metre par three 13th as the signature hole at Longyard golf course. The tee here has one of the best views over the property. The slightly downhill tee shot is daunting for the higher handicappers with only a small opening between two bunkers to a rather large, slightly undulating green. There is another bunker to the left and swales or runoff areas surrounding the rest of the green. Par here is a blessing. The pin placement dictates the difficulty in playing this hole as with most holes at Longyard.
